And the extent of production offerings in this city represent a diverse and progressive scene. There are plenty of quality shows that are pulled from the theatrical cannon and staged on a professional stage and there are also incredibly experimental and original productions in this city. The theatre scene is a vibrant part of the local culture and all of the diverse productions are enticing to tourists. Some of the prominent theatre companies in Seattle include the Seattle Repertory, which is known for its commitment to excellence and has even won a Tony Award for Best Regional Theatre. The New Century Theatre Company is one of Seattle’s smaller Equity theatres that is also cutting edge in style, subject matter and performance.

The Seattle Theatre Group is a non-profit organization that is committed to the support of great theatre in Seattle and maintaining its importance and vital status as part of the culture of the city. It is also focused on preserving the historic theatres of the city including the Paramount and Moore Theatres. It is committed to maintain these venues and ensuring their safety as major city landmarks while also allowing them to continue to thrive in cultural significance as performance spaces. The STG is in operation throughout the year and stages more than 370 shows on an annual basis. In addition to support of these major iconic historic venues, the organization is committed to the continued progress and development of the Seattle theatre scene and its importance to the culture.
